Air Mauritius to resume UK flights
by Jessica Pook
Air Mauritius will operate direct flights from Heathrow to Mauritius from October 2.
The resumption of flights will coincide with Phase 2 of the reopening of the borders in Mauritius, scheduled for October 1.
Phase 2 will allow vaccinated travellers entry without restrictions upon presentation of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure.
Currently, vaccinated travellers must stay in one of 14 “resort bubbles” on the island for the first 14 days of their stay.
The airline is scheduled to operate return flights to Mauritius from October 2 through to October 29, 2022 onboard a new Airbus A330-neo.
Air Mauritius was placed into administration in May 2020. The future of the company will be decided before the January 31, 2022 deadline with “final proposals depending heavily on the financial support that funders are likely to consider.”
