Havila guests to sing the blues

Havila Voyages is hoping its first themed cruise will hit the right notes with guests.

Those signing up to the ‘Roots and Blues’ cruise next spring will be treated to several daily performances including artists from Oslo’s’ legendary Muddy Waters Blues Club, Bill Troiani (a New Yorker who for many years ran the Blues Club) and Kid Anderson (a guitarist alumni of the same venue), and others.

The cruise will run from April 10-21 2024, with the musical performances included in the cruise fare for the Round Voyage (Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen), Voyage North (Bergen to Kirkenes) departing on April 10, and the Voyage South (Kirkenes to Bergen) departing on April 16.

Prices for the voyage on Havila Pollux start from £810pp, for the five-night Voyage South, in an inside cabin on full-board basis. Flights and excursions are not included.

Aside from the music, guests can expect memorable scenery that includes narrow fjords, towering cliffs, weather-beaten islets, and brief stops at small coastal villages.

They will also pass through four UNESCO Heritage sites and cross the Arctic circle twice.

Matthew Valentine, Havila’s Head of Sales, commented “Our new ‘Roots and Blues’ cruise is the first themed departure we have offered and creates a great opportunity for agents to sell a coastal cruise to someone who might not have considered it before.

“What better way to enjoy a blues festival, than to combine it with a trip along Norway’s legendary coastal region.”

Havila’s fleet of four ships travel close to the Norwegian coastline, with the most popular cruise the 12-day round-trip from Bergen to Kirkenes in Norway’s far north.
