Greece is preparing to launch a new marketing and advertising campaign targeted towards the summer market. The campaign will be built upon the idea that if you come to Greece you will want to stay forever.
“We know that people changed the way they choose a destination because of the pandemic, so we are trying to change how they think about us,” said Dimitris Fragakis, Secretary General for the Greek Ministry of Tourism.
Greece welcomed three million UK visitors in 2022.
“It’s really important for us to show them that Greece is the destination they are looking for.”
The new campaign will build on existing campaigns, ‘Greece has a Winter’ and ‘Greekend’, which encourage visitors to come year round and to see Greece as the perfect long weekend destination.
Greece will also promote lesser-known destinations from next month, including Skathos, Astipalia, Pelaponis and Iperos.
Sustainability is high up on the agenda, and is not just for high-end visitors, said Fragakis.
“We are really excited about the social aspect of sustainability, and fostering a connection between tourists and locals.
“We also have initiatives to show people how not to waste water, lower energy consumption and protect the natural environment, which is one of our strongest selling points.”
