More than 125 travel agents enjoyed an evening of destination and product updates and live music at Hablo’s first trade networking event this week.

Held at Old Street Records in London, the Unplugged VIP Reward Evening featured over 20 sponsors including JetBlue, Austin/Fredericksburg, Nashville, Las Vegas, Bermuda, Nevada, Lake Tahoe and Puerto Rico.

Also there to meet and greet agents were Brand USA, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Cambridge Beaches (Bermuda) and Grand Canyon Group, whose companies include Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters and Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines.

Selling Travel was the event’s media partner.

Hablo’s Managing Director Russell Meara said: “‘Our inaugural agent reward event was a superb opportunity for the Hablo team and our sponsors to meet so many of the amazing agents that have embraced our platform.

“It was great to be back in a room with agents and operators and to enjoy a lively evening of networking, fantastic entertainment and great prizes. We’re now looking forward to the next Hablo Unplugged event in Glasgow this September, which we guarantee will be just as much fun.”

One of the evening’s headline sponsors was JetBlue, whose Senior Sales Manager Maris Kuklis commented: “Thank you Hablo for putting together this event – from its quirky venue to the fun quiz, live music, exciting prizes and great agents.”

JetBlue marks one year of flying from the UK next month after launching flights from London-Heathrow and London-Gatwick to JFK last summer.

A second daily London-Gatwick-JFK (New York) flight begins on October 29 and new Boston routes begin from the same airport on August 5 and London-Heathrow on September 22.

One agent who was delighted she attended the event was Ami Patel, Reservations Manager at Major Travel, who was the night’s Grand Prize winner (pictured).

Ami returned home holding two Economy return trip flights courtesy of JetBlue Airways, a five-night stay in a Chamber King room provided by Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, a pair of night flights over the Las Vegas Strip courtesy of Grand Canyon Group, a two-night stay at Forest Suite Resort and sightseeing lake cruise tickets for two adults provided by Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.

Among the other winners on the night were Charlotte Rutherford of Paramount Cruises, who claimed a goody bag that included a bottle of wine from Fredericksburg Winery and Tito’s Vodka from Austin, Texas; Jonny Days from Trailfinders, who won a £100 Ticketmaster voucher from Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation and Lydia Sollitt of Travel Counsellors, who will be going to the Nashville Meets London festival (August 24-25), with VIP tickets and backstage passes to both nights.

Hablo is the new social media platform for the travel industry that connects destinations, travel agents, tour operators, airlines, hotel groups and other travel industry brands.
