Seattle is looking ahead to autumn and highlighting the many reasons why the Washington State city should be considered for a seasonal visit.
“As the summer crowds disappear and the leaves transform into vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow, Seattle transforms into an autumnal paradise. From cultural festivals to breathtaking natural scenery, the Emerald City offers countless reasons to visit during autumn,” said a spokesperson for Visit Seattle.
The city is a hotspot for leaf peepers, with its parks and green spaces transforming into a kaleidoscope of colours. Visitors can stroll through the Washington Park Arboretum, Discovery Park, and the Japanese Garden to experience the beauty of the fall foliage.
Cultural festivals and events that showcase the city’s heritage and arts scene include the Earshot Jazz Festival, that runs throughout October. This year marking its 30th anniversary, the festival features performances by renowned jazz artists from around the world.
The Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair in October attracts book lovers with rare and collectible books, while the Northwest Chocolate Festival in October attracts artisan chocolate makers from around the world for an extravaganza of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, inclusion bars, decadent desserts, truffles, bonbons, and caramels.
Seattle’s culinary scene thrives in the autumn, with chefs showcasing seasonal ingredients and hearty dishes that reflect the harvest season. Farmers’ markets are stocked with fresh produce and restaurants offer special autumn menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Pike Place Market, a Seattle icon and one of the oldest continuously operated farmers markets in the U.S. is less crowded in autumn, allowing visitors to leisurely explore its many vendors, sample fresh seafood, and purchase handmade crafts.
Visitors can also indulge in the city’s thriving coffee culture, with many cafes offering seasonal favourites like pumpkin spice lattes and hot apple cider.
Seattle’s shopping scene is a blend of unique boutiques, artisanal shops, and bustling markets. Neighbourhoods like Capitol Hill, Ballard, and Fremont offer eclectic shops and local goods perfect for early Christmas shopping.
