Emirates suspends check-in for Dubai departures

Emirates is suspending check-in for passengers departing Dubai due to extreme weather and road conditions.

Check-in is suspended for those departing Dubai International (DXB) Airport from 8am on April 17 until midnight.

The airport is experiencing “significant disruption” due to operational challenges caused by “unprecedented” weather conditions.

Emirates will operate for transit only-passengers until midnight. Passengers starting travel from Dubai will not be accepted.

Those arriving in Dubai and already in transit, however, will continue to be processed for their flights.

Travellers are advised to only come to the airport if “absolutely necessary”.

A spokesperson said: “It’s challenging for departing guests to reach the airport and arrival guests to leave the terminals due to the significant flooding and road blockages, resulting in limited available transport options.

“We’re continuously working hard with our emergency response teams and service partners to restore normal operations as quickly as possible and provide support for guests. Flights are delayed and some diverted with many airlines impacted by displaced crew.”

Passengers are being urged check directly with their airline to obtain the latest information on the status of their flight before coming to the airport. They should also allow extra travel time.
