Ecuador is hoping to expand its UK market by working closely with the trade next year. A series of fam trips will take place between March and May 2023 and a UK-wide roadshow is planned for next September. It will visit three to four different cities, with London already confirmed.
The destination will also launch a new promotional campaign in London in the first quarter of 2023, said the Minister of Tourism for Ecuador, Niels Olsen. “The theme will be around sustainability and regenerative tourism, about Ecuador being the perfect destination to have authentic, unique, genuine interactions and experiences.”
Olsen added: “Ecuador is a very small country. We’re not really after attracting mass tourism, but quality rather than quantity. We’re focusing on using tourism as a vehicle for conservation. We created a new marine corridor that goes from the Galapagos Islands up to the East Coast in Costa Rica and have extended protected areas in the mainland by 60%.”
The destination recently released its Digital Nomad visa on September 27, allowing visitors to live and work in Ecuador for two years. “We already have over 500 digital nomads living and working from Ecuador for international companies since we launched the visa,” said Olsen.
