Flash Pack has released new data shaping its 2026 Travel Trend Predictions, revealing that Kyrgyzstan is set to become next year’s breakout destination.

Dubbed “the new Albania”, a nod to Albania’s surge in popularity in 2025, the Central Asian nation is quickly emerging as a favourite among UK solo travellers seeking remote, culture-rich journeys.

Online interest in Kyrgyzstan reflects this demand: nearly 500,000 TikTok videos now feature the #kyrgyzstan hashtag, amplifying its appeal as an “off the beaten track” destination for curious explorers.

Flash Pack’s latest dataset combines booking trends with insights from travel experts and local ‘Pack Leaders’ around the world. The findings point to a notable shift in British solo travel behaviour that favours deeper, more unusual experiences over traditional holiday hotspots.

Off-grid adventure boom

Flash Pack’s booking data highlights the rising demand for off-grid adventures throughout 2025. While classic European escapes once dominated the space, destinations such as Sri Lanka (up 30% year-on-year), Jordan, Morocco, and Egypt are seeing strong growth.

Albania, which surged by 300% in bookings this year, has paved the way for travellers to look beyond familiar destinations.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, maintains its position as Flash Pack’s best-selling destination for three consecutive years, thanks to its mix of nature, culture and accessibility.

“We’re seeing a real shift in how British solo travellers explore the world,” said Co-founder Lee Thompson.

“Travellers are moving beyond quick, easy European breaks and seeking deeper, story-driven adventures. Albania may have started the trend, but it’s destinations like Kyrgyzstan, Jordan and now Armenia that are defining the next chapter.”

Older solo travellers drive demand

Flash Pack also reports an increase in the average age of its community, with the typical age rising from 39 to 41 years old. Its recently-launched over-50s trips now make up 10% of its audience. Japan, a destination prised for its immersive cultural experiences, is this demographic’s top pick.

“Among our over-50s travellers, Japan stands out above all others,” Thompson said. “It’s the number one destination for forming meaningful, lasting friendships. Our Japan trip scores an exceptional 9.8 out of 10 for group dynamic.”

From sushi-making with local chefs to intimate lunches with sumo wrestlers, Thompson says Japan offers the kind of “barrier-breaking moments” that bring groups closer together.

The operator has also revealed both its 10 top 2026, destinations alongside its best-performing 2025 locations.
