DELTA BOOSTS UK-US NETWORK

New flights to Los Angeles, a return to Gatwick and expansion at Edinburgh

Delta will expand its U.K.-U.S. network in 2023 as it adds more flights from London Heathrow and Edinburgh and returns to Gatwick for the first time in 15 years. In total, Delta will offer up to 15 daily flights next summer between the U.K. and U.S.

The new services will see Delta fly:

  • Daily year-round service from London Heathrow-Los Angeles
  • Daily year-round service from London Gatwick to New York-JFK
  • Five weekly Atlanta flights throughout the summer from Edinburgh

Delta’s U.K. expansion forms part of Delta’s largest ever trans-Atlantic schedule, offering nearly 620 weekly flights to 11 U.S. airports from 32 European airports. Together with partner Virgin Atlantic, Delta will offer up to 40 daily flights between the U.K. and the U.S. in summer 2023.

LOS ANGELES CALLING

The addition of Los Angeles effective March 26, 2023 means Delta will serve all its U.S. hubs nonstop from London Heathrow. It is the first time Delta has flown the route since 2015 and means that together with its partners, Virgin Atlantic, Air France and KLM, Delta offers nonstop service to L.A. from all three of its European hubs– Amsterdam, Paris and London Heathrow.

BACK AT LONDON GATWICK

Restarting its operations from Gatwick means customers will have a second London gateway to the United States as Delta starts daily nonstop service from Gatwick to New York JFK effective April 11, 2023.  The new flight will provide a convenient schedule that helps customers make the most of their holiday or business trip.

EXPANSION AT EDINBURGH

Delta last flew between Edinburgh and Atlanta in 2007. The new Atlanta service which starts effective May 26, complements the airline’s existing year-round offering to New York-JFK from Edinburgh. From Atlanta – Delta’s hometown airport – and JFK, customers can connect to more than 200 destinations across North America and beyond, including popular resorts in Florida and California.

ELEVATED ON-BOARD SERVICE

Delta will fly a mix of Boeing 767 and Airbus 330 aircraft from the U.K., featuring a choice of up to four cabin experiences including Delta One Suite and Delta Premium Select. . Customers traveling in Delta One will enjoy refreshed amenities and services including artisan-made Someone Somewhere amenity kits, soft and comfortable bedding made from recycled materials, pre-departure beverage service, chef-curated three-course meals and decadent desserts featuring build-your-own ice cream sundaes. Our Delta One Customers also have complimentary access to the Delta Sky Clubs in the U.S.. 

The airline has also announced enhancements to its Delta Premium Select cabin. These include and elevated dining experience, a “bubbles and bites” moment with sparkling wine, water and a special treat shortly after take-off, and Someone Somewhere amenity kits with Grown Alchemist products.

UPGRADING THE AIRPORT EXPERIENCE

Earlier this year, Delta, LAX’s largest global and leading carrier, opened the first phase of its modernisation program at the airport, a joint investment of $2.3 billion between the airline and Los Angeles World Airports. When the Delta Sky Way at LAX project is complete next year, Terminals 2 and 3 will be a consolidated, 1.2- million-square-foot, state-of-the-art, 27-gate complex, providing an easy-to-navigate customer journey. The project will also connect Terminals 2 and 3 to the Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B), enabling quick airside connections to Delta and Delta partner-operated flights.

Delta is also the largest airline at New York-JFK with 200 daily departures and continues to invest through a $1.5 billion transformation to improving the customer experience at the airport. The expansion will include a new Delta Sky Club on the A Concourse of Terminal 4 as well as a Delta One Club featuring a dedicated level of service that further elevates the lounge experience. Once complete in early 2024, all Delta operations will be consolidated into one terminal, enabling a more convenient travel experience for customers.
