Cruise ships welcomed back to Fiji
Following a more than two year ban, Fiji has re-opened its international borders to cruise ships. This became effective on June 15.
This move comes six months after the resumption of air travel into the country, which has successfully seen over 118,000 tourist arrivals into Fiji.
Similar to international air travel, cruising will resume in line by entry conditions established by the Fijian Government.
To ensure the safe return of cruising to Fiji, the Fijian Government will put in place additional measures to reduce risks, including:
All travellers 16 years and above – both cruise passengers and crew – to be fully vaccinated with a Fiji recognised COVID-19 vaccine; a Rapid Antigen Test taken within 24 hours prior to disembarkation at Fijian ports and valid medical travel insurance, with international coverage of COVID-19.
All onshore excursions will also be guided by health and safety protocols, including the Care Fiji Commitment. Mandates imposed by the cruise industry including implementation of appropriate operating and outbreak management plans, and COVID-19 safety plans will also help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission onboard ships.
The CRMT will continue to review Fiji’s entry requirements and COVID safe measures, with a focus on strengthening community surveillance and the robustness of the in-country testing digital platform, supplemented by the already high vaccination rates.
P&O Cruises releases escape room preview footage
P&O Cruises prepares to launch the first ever escape room at sea on board Arvia with brand new behind-the-scenes footage
P&O Cruises has released a brand new behind-the-scenes video showcasing Mission Control, the first ever escape room experience at sea. Available exclusively on P&O Cruises newest ship Arvia which launches in December 2022, Mission Control is a unique immersive experience, combining an escape game with multimedia simulation and a live-action story.

Set on board fictional submarine Arvia II, guests will board in groups of up to 10 to form a team of marine explorers and underwater detectives under the guidance of Dr. Melissa Ryan, a virtual character who will guide guests through their mission.
P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “We wanted to create something brand new and we believe this is the first of its kind in the world. Our technology partner specialises in things that have never been done before so boarding Arvia II is guaranteed to wow our guests and be like being in the biggest blockbuster movie.

A-ROSA SENA sets sail on maiden voyage
A-ROSA SENA has departed from Cologne on her maiden voyage.
The day before her departure, A-ROSA SENA was blessed by Deacon Michael Inden and then christened by Clara Eichler, the daughter of A-ROSA’s CEO Jörg Eichler in Dusseldorf. The ceremony took place in the presence of the management, the investors and the crew.
Lucia Rowe, Managing Director at A-ROSA River Cruises UK & Ireland said: “This is what we have all been waiting for – our next generation ship has set sail, paving the way for our future fleet.
“Her sustainability credentials demonstrate to the industry just what can be done. Her hybrid propulsion system, exhaust gas purification filters and her ability to turn exhaust gas into electricity are just some of the incredible things that set her apart from anything we’ve seen previously.”
A-ROSA SENA will now sail a seven-night itinerary from Cologne, calling at Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Dordrecht and Antwerp. Guests can choose to disembark and explore individually and at their own pace, or join a range of excursions which are offered by A-ROSA. These include a canoe trip through the nature reserve Biesbosch, a culinary city tour through Antwerp and a visit to the Madurodam miniature park in Rotterdam, plus many more.
A&K Travel Group Ltd has acquired the luxury cruise vessels Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony.
The two ships will resume service in 2023 after undergoing extensive refurbishment and will operate under the “Crystal Cruises” brand that has also been acquired by A&K Travel Group Ltd.
Crystal Cruises and Abercrombie & Kent will report to Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group Ltd., who commented: “My return to luxury cruising after five years brings back so many emotions. It is an immense privilege to serve these two incredible brands that in the past decades have disrupted the travel industry numerous times. Manfredi, Geoffrey and I look forward to welcoming past Crystal and Abercrombie & Kent guests onboard, as well as those seeking rewarding luxury experiences.
“The acquisition of Crystal has been extremely challenging but the satisfaction of having this jewel in our family is the best payoff for all the hard work and efforts of the A&K team. Ad maiora Crystal Cruises!”
