Riviera extends flexible booking policy

Escorted touring holiday specialist Riviera Travel has extended its flexible booking policy to December 31 this year.

The policy allows guests to change their booking deposit to another holiday in 2022 or 2023, up until their final balance payment is due.

Guests can transfer their deposit to another holiday of equal or higher value.

The offer is available on all new bookings – “with no questions asked” – and no fees. It previously applied to 2022 holidays only.

Riviera offers river cruise itineraries to the Seine, Rhone, Rhine, Douro and Danube, and touring holidays to France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Norway and Iceland.

The policy contains the Riviera price promise, whereby if the cost of a holiday goes down after booking, guests pay the lower price or will be refunded the difference. This means guests will always benefit from the best price by booking early.

Robin Shaw, Riviera Travel Chief Operating Officer, said: “We’ve extended our policy as we want customers to have complete confidence when making a booking, and to be sure they won’t lose out if their plans need to change. Our customers have provided clear feedback that flexibility remains important to them, and we are absolutely committed to always doing the right thing by them”

Havila Voyages puts promise up in lights

New cruise line Havila Voyages has launched new ‘Northern Lights Promise’.

The initiative means any guests booking a twelve-day cruise along the Norwegian coast (Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen) will be eligible for a free six- or seven-night voyage, if the natural phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis doesn’t appear during their trip.

The ‘Northern Lights Promise’ is valid for all departures from October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 and the replacement trip (if needed), will take place the following winter.

Matthew Valentine, Head of Sales UK commented: “This (promise) clearly demonstrates how strongly we believe that our brand-new ships are the best place from which to see the Northern Lights.

“Those seeking out the Aurora Borealis don’t need to stand out in the cold for hours, they can watch the arctic skies from our onboard Jacuzzi or head to the lounge where a glass roof and reclining chairs make for uninterrupted views of the Arctic sky.”

Last week, Havila announced an onboard credit offer meaning that anyone booking a 12-day round trip by October 31 2022 will also qualify for NOK 5,000 per cabin (approx £410) to spend onboard, regardless of the cabin category booked.

The on-board credit offer is available for all departures until the end of December 2023.

Prices for the 12-day round trip start from £873pp (based on two sharing, cruise only) in an inside cabin, for departures in November 2022.

Avila’s ships operate along the Norwegian coastal route and feature the World’s largest battery packs on a passenger ship.
