Amadeus River Cruises has announced its entry into northern Portugal with the debut of the Amadeus Douro in 2028.

The new vessel is a hybrid-propulsion ship purpose-built to navigate the river’s winding passages and historic locks.

Sailing between March and November, the ship will accommodate 111 guests in 54 staterooms and two suites, most featuring drop-down panoramic windows or private balconies.

Onboard amenities include an expansive sun deck with a swimming pool and the line’s signature Café Vienna. Curated itineraries will operate round-trip from Porto, exploring the wine-producing regions reaching toward the Spanish border.

“The Douro Valley has become an increasingly popular destination, and with Amadeus Douro we are excited to offer our partners and guests a truly immersive way to explore its extraordinary scenery, wine heritage and historic towns,” says Corina Lueftner, Head of Sales at Amadeus River Cruises.

Highlights include “The Glacier Experience” which offers expert narration and National Park Ranger commentary, and “Après Sea”, which is a lounge experience featuring panoramic views and warm drinks.

Guests can also attend a new “Fire & Ice” candlelight concert series featuring Alaskan singer-songwriters or sample locally inspired dishes like Wild King Salmon and Alaskan Jumbo Lump Crab Cake at the onboard specialty restaurants.

“From encounters with local experts and native storytellers to immersive entertainment and scenic glacier viewing, these experiences allow our guests to connect with Alaska along every step of their journey,” said John-Paul Lamb, Princess Cruises Vice President of Entertainment.

Following the rapid sell-out of their inaugural 2026 partnership, Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) and Crystal Cruises have 10 new voyages for 2027.

The collection combines A&K’s destination expertise with Crystal’s ultra-luxury ocean offerings aboard the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony.

Each journey will begin with a two-night stay at a luxury hotel and features signature A&K enrichment programming and exclusive shore excursions.

New itineraries for 2027 include a voyage through South East Asia, an exploration of the Canary Islands and Morocco, as well as culinary-focused journeys along Europe’s Atlantic coast. Guests sail in Sapphire Veranda Suites, while solo travellers are accommodated in Aquamarine Veranda Suites with no single supplement.

“The overwhelming demand for our 2026 pilot voyage demonstrated something extraordinary. Guests instantly connected with the combination of A&K’s deep cultural expertise and Crystal’s unparalleled onboard atmosphere,” said Fernando Delgado, Chief Product Officer at AKTG.
