Itineraries pair gorilla trekking with classic safari, with a new camping or chalet option

Contiki has brought Uganda back to its portfolio with a collection of East Africa wildlife adventures for 2027, giving agents new options for clients aged 18 to 35. Departures start from May 2, 2027 and are available to book now.

The launch also introduces a new accommodation concept across Contiki’s East Africa trips. Travellers can choose between camping and chalet-style accommodation on the same departure while still sharing the same group travel experience, giving agents a more flexible product to offer.

The seven-day Uganda: Gorilla and Chimp Trekking itinerary is the shortest of the three. It combines gorilla and chimpanzee trekking with game drives through Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks, a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and the chance to see the source of the River Nile. Prices start from £2,505pp.

The 11-day Uganda, Gorillas and Maasai Mara trip pairs primate encounters with classic safari. Travellers track mountain gorillas and chimpanzees before crossing into Kenya for game drives in the Maasai Mara, with opportunities to spot lions, elephants and cheetahs and, season permitting, witness the Great Migration. Prices start from £3,565pp.

Leading the collection is the 19-day Best of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania itinerary, an overland adventure across three countries. Guests trek for mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, track chimpanzees through Kalinzu Forest, visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and cruise the Nile before continuing to Kenya’s Maasai Mara and Amboseli National Park. The trip then moves on to Tanzania’s Serengeti and Ngorongro Crater. Prices start from £6,025pp.

All three trips include accommodation, select meals and experiences, internal transport and a Trip Manager, Trip Driver, Chef and Camp Manager. Flights are not included.
