Visitors to the Columbia Icefield will now have the chance to conquer a glacier. The new Ice Odyssey experience takes guests on a thrilling ride on a SHERP vehicle, especially designed for challenging terrain, to a special stop point on the Athabasca Glacier.
Over two hours, a small group of five will follow in the footsteps of an expert guide, hearing about the glacier’s history, from its Great Glaciation formation to its recent role as a NASA testing ground. Afterwards they’ll hop off the vehicle to take a walk on the glacier’s surface.
Tickets are available to book now, tours take place from 3 May onwards, with the 2025 season running until 13 October (weather dependent). Fans of conservation will be glad to hear that the tour is both low emission and low-impact.
