Cincy Region set to see the light after BA ups flights

VUSA 30th

The Cincy Region, which combines the German heritage and urban energy of Cincinnati, Ohio, with the Southern charm and cool quirkiness of Northern Kentucky, is expecting an uptick in visitors when British Airways increases flight capacity this month.

The airline is expanding its nonstop London Heathrow to Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport service from five to six weekly flights from March 29, boosting capacity by 55 to 60 per cent in response to what it says is rising demand.

The service will also see an aircraft upgrade from a Boeing 787 800 to a larger Boeing 777 200.

The route is the only nonstop connection to the UK across Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.

And The Cincy Region is gearing up for a standout year of landmark celebrations, culinary innovation and major cultural events like BLINK, the largest light, art and projection mapping festival in the U.S.

Also in August , Ohio River Paddlefest celebrates its 25th anniversary as the nation’s largest paddling festival. Thousands of kayaks, canoes and paddleboards take to the Ohio River, creating a spectacular flotilla that winds through downtown Cincinnati’s skyline. Equal parts outdoor adventure and community celebration, Paddlefest offers a uniquely scenic way to experience the city from the water.

In October 2026, the fifth edition of BLINK, the largest light, art and projection mapping festival in the United States, will transform more than 30 city blocks across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky into a dazzling immersive open air gallery.

Monumental projection mapping, large-scale light sculptures, murals and live performances will illuminate the skyline and riverfront, drawing visitors into a citywide celebration of creativity unlike anywhere else in the country.

New hotel openings include Moxy Hotel Cincinnati, Fidelity Hotel, Hyatt Centric Cincinnati and Blue Suede Cincinnati.
