APT’s birthday gift for agents

River cruise and touring specialist APT is marking its 95th birthday on August 18 by offering travel agents an incentive of a £95 Love2Shop code for every booking they make on the day.

Each APT and Travelmarvel booking made by the trade between 00:00 and 23:59 qualify for the Love2Shop vouchers, redeemable with most major retailers and a range of attractions and restaurants, including Foot Locker, River Island, The London Bridge Experience, and Pizza Express.

An APT spokesperson said: “To help them to close sales, agents can also take advantage of our Balcony Sale, with savings of up to 50% for their clients, plus, for Travel Marvel guests, an upgrade to the best available cabin is also included.”

APT was founded in 1927 by Australian Bill McGeary in response to a tram strike in Melbourne. The company quickly evolved and, as ‘Australian Pacific Coaches’, began branching out into leisure travel, creating day tours and themed weekends, such as trips to Sydney.

In the mid-1970s, the company expanded overseas for the first time, creating escorted tours to New Zealand, and underwent a rebranding to ‘Australian Pacific Tours’, or APT.

A Canada & Alaska touring programme was added in 1991, which saw the introduction of journeys by luxury train and cruise ship for the first time.

APT is still owned and run by the McGeary family today.
