Work to make one of San Antonio’s most visited attractions a world-class facility has started in the Texas city.

Billed as a “historic moment” for the state, construction is underway on the much touted Alamo Visitor Center and Museum, a key project of the facilities $550 million Alamo Plan.

The Alamo Visitor Center and Museum, scheduled for completion in 2027, will offer visitors an immersive journey through eight galleries spanning the Alamo’s 300-year history, from its origins as a Spanish mission to the Texas Revolution and beyond.

Anchored in the historic Crockett Block, the facility will also feature a state-of-the-art 4D theatre, a rooftop event space with panoramic views of San Antonio, and modern amenities, including a café and gift shop.

Marc Anderson, President & CEO of Visit San Antonio, said: “This $185 million project is not just a building, it’s a transformative experience where the past and present converge.

“The new centre will provide a focal point for British visitors keen to discover the key part San Antonio plays in Texan history, as the home of the iconic Alamo.”

The museum will deliver a permanent home to rock star Phil Collins’ donated multimillion dollar collection of Alamo and Texan memorabilia, amongst its many fascinating exhibits.

“We are so proud to add this state-of-the-art museum to our city’s ever-expanding list of thrilling reasons to visit,” said Anderson.
