As a Personal Travel Consultant with Blue Bay Travel, I’ve been fortunate to explore a few destinations, but Poros, Greece, took me completely by surprise.
When Travelpack invited a group of us on their first-ever exclusive fam trip, I’ll admit I didn’t know much about the island beyond its location. I had always thought of the Greek islands as beautiful but perhaps overly touristy. What I discovered, though, was a beautiful and relatively undiscovered island brimming with charm and culture – and one with plenty of potential for my clients.
Hosted by Natalie Batchelor, Greece Product Manager at Travelpack, the trip was well-planned and thought through to give us a real feel for Poros and its potential as a holiday destination.
We were based at the lovely Cascade Holiday Resort in Askeli, a family-run hotel. Stathis and Eleni, the owners, treated us like old friends, and their hospitality highlighted how warm and personal a holiday here can feel.

Our itinerary was the perfect blend of fun and learning. We kicked things off with a scenic boat tour around the island, soaking in the relaxed atmosphere and gorgeous views. Dinner in Poros Town gave us a taste of local life – the waterfront tavernas and pretty provided a fabulous setting.
A highlight for me was the full-day excursion to Hydra, just a short ferry ride away. With its stone mansions and car-free streets it was like stepping back in time.
The quad biking around Poros was really exciting, even though I was a bit nervous! We visited the historic monastery, explored quiet corners of the island and paused to take in the beauty of Love Bay. We also carried out hotel inspections, which was invaluable in understanding the variety of options we can now confidently offer clients.

Before this trip, Poros wasn’t on my radar, and I doubt it was on many of my clients’ either. That’s changed: I now see it as an ideal alternative to those better-known islands. I will be recommending it as perfect for couples seeking a romantic escape, or families wanting something authentic but accessible. It’s also a great base to explore the other islands from as a day trip.

For other agents selling Poros, my top tip is to highlight the ease of access from Athens (just a couple of hours by ferry), the genuine Greek charm and the peaceful atmosphere.
This trip has not only deepened my product knowledge but has given me a real emotional connection to the destination. I can now sell Poros with confidence.
I’ve already got a few clients in mind who I know are going to love it just as much as I did.
