Agents get a taste of Jamaica at Commonwealth Games

The Jamaica Tourist Board hosted an exclusive agent event at the Jamaica House pop-up during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

TUI agents and independent agents from JTA Holidays and Midlands Travel Trade Club were given an update of the latest tourism developments in Jamaica before being treated to a rum tasting experience led by Donovan Donaldson, Business Development Officer at Jamaica Tourist Board. They then enjoyed free entry with VIP access to the Jamaica House for a ‘watch party’ and international reggae night.

Director of Tourism for Jamaica, Donovan White, said: “Travel agents and tour operators have always been an important part of Jamaica’s success as a destination for British holidaymakers. Many of the people in this room today have contributed to our record-breaking number of visitors from the UK this year. We wanted to not only reward our agents, but also to help them to understand the true spirit of Jamaica.”

Simon Sharpe, Regional Retail Sales Manager at TUI Musement said: “Thank you Jamaica Tourist Board for a fantastic evening. All of our agents had a wonderful time, and most importantly now better understand what makes Jamaica such a special country. The talks, activities and entertainment mean they are now well placed to sell experiences for holidaymakers purchasing trips to Jamaica via TUI.”
