
Huntington Beach, California, has a calendar of events in early 2026 that brings together the surf, sport, and music the Californian beach city is known for.
Locals and visitors start the new year with Surf City Splash, a New Year’s Day dive into the Pacific for what is a Huntington Beach tradition.
One of Southern California’s most scenic runs takes place on February 1 when the Surf City Marathon comes to town, featuring ocean views from start to finish along the famous Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway). Considered one of the best courses in the U.S., the event features a full marathon – with the chance to officially qualify for the Boston Marathon – half marathon, and a 5K run.
Kite Party, from March 7-8, invites visitors to look skywards to witness acolourful celebration of dazzling aerial kites. Watch expert flyers fill the sky with movement and design along the Huntington Beach shoreline.
On the same weekend, The Revolution is a high-energy two days of music, art and surf culture celebrating all things SoCal. Expect live performances, local food and a vibrant beachside crowd.
Later in the month, on March 28, there will be grunts and groans as California’s Strongest Man and Woman contest draws athletes from across the state to compete in strength and endurance challenges right on the sand.
Huntington Beach is known for its classic car rallies and Hotrods N Heroes (March 28-28) combines eye-catching automobiles with live entertainment in a popular annual event.

In spring, two events underline Huntington Beach’s globally known epithet “Surf City USA®”.
Van’s Jack’s Surfboards Pro will see top surfers from around the world gather for this renowned World Surf League competition. Expect thrilling heats, a beach buzz and endless summer vibes. It takes place from April 22-26.
And from May 16-17, SURFscape targets both experienced wave riders and those starting out with the ultimate consumer event. Celebrating surfing and coastal adventure, it brings together leading brands, workshops and hands-on experiences to inspire every kind of wave seeker.
