Virgin Atlantic suspends flights to Bahamas and Turks & Caicos

Virgin Atlantic is suspending routes to The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos in 2025.

The last flight to Turks & Caicos will operate on February 21 2025, while the last route to The Bahamas will run on February 23 2025. Both routes will fly from London Heathrow (LHR).

Those booked to travel after these dates will either receive a full refund or be rebooked onto alternative flights with another carrier.

Both routes will not show as cancelled in the Global Distribution System (GDS) until the weekend of August 10 2024.

Virgin Atlantic is currently arranging rebooking options for passengers with other carriers.

A statement from the airline’s latest bulletin said: “After careful consideration, we’ve taken the difficult decision to suspend our operations to The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to affected customers.”

Jenny Jackson, Travel Specialist at Luxury Travel Guru, added: “It’s quite disappointing that Virgin Atlantic are stopping these routes. The Bahamas perhaps wasn’t the best choice [to fly to] because British Airways operate daily flights, but Turks & Caicos is very much an up-and-coming destination.”

Passengers are advised to check Virgin Atlantic’s Bulletins page after August 9 2024 for guidance on rebooking. Refunds can be requested immediately.
