2026 total solar eclipse cruises on Sun Princess now on sale

Princess Cruises has announced itineraries on Sun Princess, the cruise line’s newest ship, which facilitate viewings of the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026.

Now on sale, the 2026 Total Solar Eclipse Mediterranean itineraries aboard the Sun Princess vary in length from seven to 21 nights with six sailings available.

The Sun Princess will be positioned off the coast of southern Spain on August 12. The total eclipse of that day will be two minutes and 18 seconds in duration.

A round trip sailing from Rome on July 25, 2026, the 21-night Best of the Mediterranean with Total Solar Eclipse cruise calls at Naples, Crete, Kusadasi, Mykonos, Athens, Santorini, Bar, Corfu, Sicily, Barcelona, Gibraltar, Cartagena and Florence/Pisa.

Sailing on August 1, 2026, the 14-night Mediterranean with Total Solar Eclipse cruise from Athens to Rome calls at Santorini, Bar, Corfu, Sicily, Barcelona, Gibraltar, Cartagena and Florence/Pisa.

The round trip 21-night Best of the Mediterranean with Total Solar Eclipse departs Athens on August 1, 2026, visiting Santorini, Bar, Corfu, Sicily, Barcelona, Gibraltar, Cartagena, Florence/Pisa, Rome, Naples, Crete, Kusadasi and Mykonos.

On August 8, 2026, the Seven-night Mediterranean with Total Solar Eclipse cruise sails from Barcelona, calling at Gibraltar, Cartagena, Florence/Pisa on the way to Rome.

The 14-night Mediterranean with Total Solar Eclipse cruise sails from Barcelona on August 8, 2026, calling at Gibraltar, Cartagena, Florence/Pisa, Rome, Naples, Crete, Kusadasi, Mykonos and concluding in Athens.

On August 8, 2026 the 21-night Best of Mediterranean with Total Solar Eclipse round trip cruise sails from Barcelona, visiting Gibraltar, Cartagena, Florence/Pisa, Rome, Naples, Crete, Kusadasi, Mykonos, Athens, Santorini, Bar, Corfu and Sicily.

During the eclipse, Sun Princess guests will gather on the top decks with safety glasses for viewing, lectures from astronomy experts, themed treats and drinks, stargazing at night, solar system trivia and more. Guests are encouraged to set up their own telescopes on deck and wear festive eclipse-themed apparel and accessories.

Additionally, the 14-night Total Solar Eclipse Mediterranean cruise on the 3,560-guest Sky Princess sets sail from Southampton on August 8. The round trip sailing will call at Cherbourg in France; Bilbao, Malaga, Cartagena and La Coruña in Spain; Gibraltar and Lisbon in Portugal.

Sun Princess, docked in Southampton on September 21. It is the first ship in Princess Cruises’ fleet to be powered by liquified natural gas (LNG) and features several sustainable innovations that help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Sun Princess’s MedallionClass service utilises technology to offer real-time personalisation and on-demand service, ensuring guests receive individualised attention.
